Introduction

Knowledge of the causes of autism - an illness with a double determinism (genetical and environmental) has been progressing constantly. A specific inflammation, previously unknown, was recently discovered in the brain areas related to this illness. An article published in the US review "Toxicol. And applied pharmacology" proved an environmental and toxic cause. It is safe to admit that theimpact of a growing environmental toxicity associated with a favourable genetic background could boost the progression of this illness. During the Ariane congress, international specialists will be present to shed a light on autism, a major health problem for children in the 21st century, and on the weapons to fight this illness.
